Bei Bambini (Review and Giveaway)(Winner Announced)

This giveaway is now closed.

The random winner is...

#77, Louise

Louise, I have contacted you letting you know you won. Please reply within 48 hours or another winner will be drawn.

I was tickled to be able to review this sweet little dress that Bei Bambini sent me for the Virtual Baby Shower.

I was impressed with the quality of the dress. The cotton is very soft and feels like it will be pretty durable. When I put it through the washer and dryer I was very excited to pull it out and find it wrinkle-free! By the looks of it I thought it was going to run big, but I was surprised to find out that the sizing is just about right. (It's a size 0-3 month, so it's just a hair big on my daughter since she's still in a newborn size.)

Along with the dress I received, there are a couple other dresses on the Bei Bambini website that I think are adorable:

They also carry tops and bottoms and boys' clothing as well. All of the clothing in the "cruise wear" category is 50% off, including the Ginger dress I posted above.

Enter to win:

Bei Bambini has graciously agreed to give one of my readers a $50 e-gift card to their site!

Kokopax (Review and Discount Code)

I'm not sure who was happier, myself or my son, when the carrier arrived that Kokopax sent me to review. He has been begging nonstop to ride in it! He doesn't seem to understand that it is for our girl and that the fabric is girl fabric.

Since his sister is not quite big enough to ride in it yet anyway (babies can start riding in the Kokopax carrier at six months of age), I went ahead and let him have a ride. The Kokopax carrier can handle a baby up to 35 pounds and he's only about 25 pounds.

Features I like about the Kokopax carrier :
  • The Kokopax carrier only weighs approximately 2.7 pounds, which is a good thing because I wouldn't want to add any more weight than necessary to the 25 pound hunk-of-a-lug called my son.
  • The padding in the shoulder straps is really nice because it keeps them from digging into my shoulders. The shoulder straps are also adjustable so that they comfortably fit whoever is carrying the child.
  • There is a lumbar support which can adjust to fit whoever is carrying the child. Since my husband and I both have back trouble, this is a very important feature to us.
  • The carrier straps are adjustable to properly fit any child between age 6 months to 2 years. The straps can even be moved up to a higher position for a taller child.
  • There is a place to attach toys to keep a child occupied.
  • The storage pocket in the back is big enough to keep essentials without being too big or bulky.
  • The kickstand allows the carrier to firmly stand on the ground to allow for easy loading of the child.
  • I love that it comes with a storage bag. That way if I go for while without using the carrier it will be protected from dust and dirt.
The Kokopax carrier comes in seven different styles, including the new City Gumdrop design.

Carriers can be ordered from the Kokopax website, along with their newest product, the Samantha Diaper Tote.

Readers of the Deal Scoop can take an extra 10% off their Kokopax order when they use the promo code tds2009.

Kushies (Review and Discount Code)

Kushies is a one stop shop for all your baby and toddler needs, including apparel, award-winning toys and diapers, travel bags and beds and more. I was sent this Ultra-Lite Diaper sample pack to review for the Virtual Baby Shower. The pack includes: 2 Ultra-Lite diapers, 2 washable diaper liners, 2 washcloths, and 10 biodegradable diaper liners.

What I liked:
  • These diapers can fit a wide range of sizes - from 10 through 22 pounds.
  • Velcro tabs make for easy adjustment.
  • The diapers are not only made from 6 layers of flannel, but there is also an additional soaker layer inside.
  • The diapers are made with a flap that can be folded up for boys or down for girls to provide absorbency where they need it most. (Pretty nifty!)
  • There is a pocket in the flap where an additional liner can be added for even more absorbency. Either the included washable liners can be used or flushable liners can be used to make cleanup easier.
  • The outside of the diaper is made from waterproof material.
What I'd change:
Since these are made to fit such a wide range of sizes, the leg openings are made rather large. It would be nice to have a way to adjust the leg openings to fit a smaller baby more snugly and reduce the risk of leaks from the leg openings.

Kushies diapers can be purchased at www.kushiesonline.com along with a wide array of other products. Readers of The Deal Scoop can take an extra 10% off their purchase when they use the promo code tds10.

No Throw (Review and Giveaway)(Winners announced)

This giveaway is now closed.

The random winners are...

#31, Kristin
#49, Michelle
#6, Abby
#82, Desiree
#90, Morgan
#78, mami2jcn

I have contacted all of you letting you know you won. Please reply within 48 hours or another winner will be drawn.

If your toddler is anything like mine, he loves to throw things just for the fun of it. And when he's not purposely throwing things, he's accidentally dropping them. That is not a good thing when it involves throwing his cup onto a dirty floor. Or when he's in the backseat of the car and he drops his cup while I'm driving and I can't get to it.

Twin sisters Karla and Karen had the same problem. Their solution was the No Throw. They sent me some to try out for myself as well as a few to give away to some of you! The No Throw straps to your child's cup or bottle on one end, and the other end can attach to your child's carseat, stroller, high chair, etc.
No Throws come in a variety of patterns for both boys and girls. They can be purchased online at nothrow.com or at any Walgreens location. When you buy online, shipping is currently free for orders of 6 or fewer.

Enter to win:

3 winners will receive a girl No Throw and 3 winners will receive a boy No Throw.

"Wow!"

That's all I could say when my blanket arrived that Momo Baby Gifts sent me to review. If you want to make somebody feel special, send them a gift from Momo Baby! I wasn't just sent a blanket inside of a cardboard box. No way. This is what I got in the mail, and it made me feel like a million bucks:

Imagine getting that in the mail. Would that not make you feel special? The box is wrapped so nicely you almost don't even care what's in it. Until you open it, that is, and you find inside of it the absolute softest, coziest, warmest blanket you have ever felt in your life. And it's not just the absolute softest, coziest, warmest blanket you have ever felt in your life, but it also has the name of the most precious little girl in the world embroidered on the corner. Getting that in the mail will make your day. I promise.

It will also make your day when your little girl is sitting beside you as you type, cooing contentedly as she's snuggled under her blanket.
If you want to make somebody's day like that, go to momobaby.com and order a personalized baby gift. They sell apparel, blankets, bags, note cards, and more. And through the end of November, my readers can take an extra 20% off any order of $25 or more when they use the promo code SCOOP.

Silikids (Review)

Silikids carries a variety of silicone products for kids including knee pads, bibs, and bottles. I was sent a glass bottle with a Siliskin to review.
Features I liked:
  • The Siliskin keeps the glass bottle from burning your hands when its been microwaved.
  • It's dishwasher safe - this is a must for me!
  • Even though it's colored, you can see through the Siliskin well enough to see the measurements on the bottle.
  • Silicone does not harbor bacteria or fungus growth - that one's pretty important too!

To purchase glass bottles with Siliskins or any of the other products mentioned above, check out www.silikids.com to find either an online retailer or a store near you that carries these products.

Pediped (Review)

I was sent a pair of pediped Originals baby shoes to review for the Virtual Baby Shower, and they are adorable! pediped Originals are made with soft soles to aid in the optimum development of baby's growing feet. "The next best thing to bare feet", pediped shoes allow baby to walk with a natural stride and feel the floor as they learn to walk. In spite of the soft soles, pedipeds keep baby's feet protected due to the double layer of leather and foam insert.

pediped Originals are made with a velcro fastener so they be easily adjusted and gotten on and off. There are 75 different styles to choose from and they can be purchased in a range of sizes from 0-6 months to 18-24 months.
Along with the Originals, pediped also carries the rubber-soled Flex line of shoes made in children's sizes 6-12. Also available for little girls are hair clips by No Slippy Hair Clippy. There are several bows that will match any outfit as well as three styles that partner with their matching shoe style.

For more information about pediped or make a purchase, please visit pediped.com.

BabyBjorn (Review and Giveaway)(Winner announced)

This giveaway is now closed.

The random winner is...

#29, Jennifer

Jennifer, I have contacted you letting you know you won. Please reply within 48 hours with your shipping address or another winner will be drawn.

I love having an easy way to carry my baby around the house and out at the store, so I was pretty excited when BabyBjorn sent me one of their Original Spirit carriers to review.

What I liked:
  • The first thing I had to do was to choose a color. There are so many color options (8 to be exact) for this carrier! I love having lots of choices. With my husband's input, I ended up choosing black so that it won't clash with any of our clothes!
  • When the carrier arrived, I was very impressed with the detailed instructions. There was no doubt as to exactly how to put on the carrier, adjust it, or load the baby. There are even step-by-step pictorial directions on the inside of the carrier so you can refer to them each time you use the carrier.
  • I loved the softness of the fabric! Even though it is very thick and heavy-duty, it is still incredibly soft.
  • The secure buckles made me feel safe about carrying my baby. I have used other brands of this type of carrier and the slides on the side do not fasten securely - they just slide in and out. The slides on the BabyBjorn carrier slide in and then click. You have to push a botton to slide them out.
  • The front section detaches entirely from the shoulder straps. I have used other brands of carriers that do not detach and it's like a maze to try to figure out how to get the thing on! With the BabyBjorn's detachable front, I don't have to figure anything out - just put the shoulder straps on and then attach the front section.
  • The BabyBjorn can carry children from age newborn all the way up to 25 pounds. When the baby is small he faces the person carrying him. When he gets a little older he can turn around and face outward. The top portion of the carrier folds down to accommodate this.
  • The carrier is machine-washable. It's nice to have an easy way to clean the carrier since anything that children use is bound to get dirty!
What I didn't like:
The only thing I would like better is if there were some way to support the lower back. I don't feel much discomfort with a newborn, but I know that once my baby gets heavier my shoulders will feel some strain if I carrier her for very long.

Baggino (Review and Discount Code)

Raise your hand if you like changing your baby in a public restroom! What, nobody? Okay, me neither, but it will be a lot easier now that I have a Baggino. I was sent a Junior Combination Diaper Bag and Changing Belt to review.

When the bag is zipped, it looks just like a tote bag. When you're ready for a diaper change, you unzip the bag, wrap it around your waist, and secure it with a buckle. The inside of the bag is then handy with all your diaper changing supplies without your having the set the bag down on the dirty surfaces of a public restroom. The pockets are spacious enough to fit everything you need for a diaper change in them, and it includes a changing pad that folds up small enough to to fit in one of the pockets. I should have thought to get a better picture, but there is even a flap that lifts up to create a dispenser for your wipes. This way you don't even have to get the wipes container out of the bag.

This bag is perfect for small outings to the store where you only need to take along the basics. There is enough room for diaper changing supplies and maybe a bottle or cup and a toy or two.
If you need to take more along, Baggino also sells a larger version of this bag here.

And until October 31, readers of The Deal Scoop will receive free shipping from Baggino when they use the promo code DEALSCOOP.

Natural Mat (Review and Discount Code)

Natural Mat is an English manufacturer of organic crib mattresses and organic crib bedding. The mattresses are made from natural fibers, which allow them be more breathable than those made with synthetic fibers. They are non-allergenic and anti-dust mite. Even though they contain no chemicals, they are still fire-retardant and comply with federal safety standards.

Along with organic crib mattresses, Natural Mat produces organic crib bedding as well. I was sent an organic cotton fitted percale sheet to review. These sheets contain no bleach or dye. The cotton seems to be softer and thicker than other sheets that I have. They are able to be machine washed and dried and seem like they will turn out to be very durable.

For more information about Natural Mat products, check out their website here.

Baby Harrill (Review and Giveaway)(Winner announced)

This giveaway is now closed.

The random winner is...

#12, Desiree

Desiree, I have contacted you letting you know you won. Please reply within 48 hours with your shipping address or another winner will be drawn.

Do you ever go past a store and want to go in just because the storefront is so cute? That's how I felt when I came across the Baby Harrill website.

See, doesn't that make you want to go inside and look around?

When I took a look, I found all sorts of sweet things for baby. Baby Harrill sent me this Pink Minky Dot Burp Cloth to review for the Virtual Baby Shower.

It's so pretty that I almost don't want to use it and get it dirty! It goes through the wash just fine, though, so even if it does get dirty it's not a big deal. The lighting is not the best in this picture - the colors of the burp cloth are a lot prettier in real life.

Along with their burp cloths, Baby Harrill also sells bibs, blankets, loveys, and changing pads.

The folks at Baby Harrill are giving my readers the chance to win a pink minky dot bib!

Boon Frog Pod (Review)

If you like cool stuff, you'll like Boon products! I didn't find a thing on their website that didn't draw my attention with its interestingness. (Yes, I know that's not a word, but I want to use it, so leave me alone.)

Boon sent me a Frog Pod to review as part of the Virtual Baby Shower, and my son could not stop grinning when it arrived on our porch. He's too little to even know what it is, but he too was quite intrigued by its interestingness.

What I liked:
  • The Frog Pod is big enough to hold every toy my son ever dreamed of having in the bathtub.
  • It's very easy to attach to the tub. You can either use the included adhesive strips or screw it onto the wall. The adhesive strips can be removed without harming the wall's surface.
  • The base of the Frog Pod stays attached to the wall while the scoop can be removed to scoop up bath toys. It's much less annoying to have something attached to the wall rather than hanging around the faucet like most bath toy holders.
  • The holes in the bottom of the scoop allow for easy rinsing of bath toys. Instead of having to rinse them one at a time, they can all be scooped up and rinsed together. The holes then allow them to drain and dry between baths.
What I didn't like: The Frog Pod is much bigger than what I was expecting. I know I sound contradictory since I said earlier that I like its large size. I like that it can hold so many toys, but for a family with a very small bathtub, it seems quite intrusive. Can't have the best of both worlds I suppose!

The Frog Pod can be ordered from the Boon website along with all sorts of other cool products. Check them all out here. Also, be sure to follow @BoonInc on Twitter to stay updated on all their latest products!

Child to Cherish Tower of Time (Review and Discount Code)

Another baby product I received to review for the Virtual Baby Shower was the Tower of Time from Child to Cherish. The Tower of Time is a set of decorative tins, each of which contains a kit to make your child's handprint out of plaster. There are five separate tins so that you can make a keepsake handprint each year from ages 1 through 5.

Specific features I liked:
  • Rather than having to stack the tins and hope they stay put, there is a raised ledge on each tin to keep the tin above from sliding off.
  • Each tin contains its own instructions for mixing the plaster. At first I didn't understand why that was necessary, but then I realized that each tin contains a slightly different amount of plaster to accommodate the different sized hands. The separate instructions ensure that the right amount of water gets mixed with the plaster in each tin.
  • Each tin features a different design on the lid, all of which are pretty cute.
  • There is a label underneath the lid of each tin so that the child's name and the date can be easily recorded.
If you're the sentimental type who likes having keepsakes of your children, you can order the Tower of Time and many other keepsake products at the Child to Cherish website.

My readers can also take an extra 10% off when you use the coupon code tds10.

aden + anais (Review)

Swaddling blankets by aden + anais were created by Australian mothers who moved to the United States. They could not find swaddling blankets big enough for their babies or in the muslin fabric they were used to in Australia, so they created their own.

I was sent an Organic Pink Stripe Wrap to review as part of the Virtual Baby Shower.

The muslin seemed rather thin when I first received the blanket, but the more it goes through the wash, the softer and fluffier it becomes. After several washings it is now thick enough to seem substantial, but still very breathable. I love the fact that it is so breathable so that I don't have to worry about my little girl overheating while she's all wrapped up. The large size of the blanket allows me to make sure my daughter is completely swaddled without worrying about her wriggling loose.

Products from aden + anais can be ordered at their website where they sell not only swaddling blankets, but also hooded towels and muslin washcloths. Take a look at all of their products here.
