The Learning Parent Review and Giveaway

I was given the opportunity to review a Character Concepts for Preschoolers Basic Curriculum from The Learning Parent and I'm really looking forward to using it with my little guy this year.

It is important that Biblical character be one of the first things our children learn.  It will be very difficult to teach a child academics if he has not learned to obey, be respectful, and pay attention.  Once the foundation of character has been laid, other types of learning can be added to it.

In the Character Concepts for Preschoolers Basic Curriculum, children are taught not only what the character traits are, but how to apply them in their own lives.

The set includes:
  • Crossroads of Character - a lovely book with pictures of real children doing real-life activities that teach lessons about real-life situations.
  • History for Preschoolers - an audio CD set with stories of American heroes who illustrate the character trait currently being taught.  Accompanying pictures are included in the Mom's Guide.
  • Learning Character with the Cousins Flashcards - Flashcards that represent the character qualities found in Crossroads of Character which include a definition and a Scripture verse to memorize.
  • Learning ABC's with the Cousins - photographic flashcards to aid in learning the alphabet sounds
  • Hands-On Character Building - A book full of ideas for activities to help reinforce the character qualities being learned
  • Mom's Guide - Lesson plans for a 36 week period.  Additional ideas for seasonal and educational crafts are given, along with suggestions for family activities, recipes, Bible stories with illustrations, and coloring pages.
I am happy to have found a preschool curriculum that is spiritually focused.  Also, this is the only preschool curriculum I have seen that includes history.  The audio CD's will definitely keep it exciting too!

Because of the birth of a new baby just a few days ago, we've not yet been able to start on the curriculum, but my little guy begs me every day if we can do his new school work.  He has briefly seen all the colorful pictures included in the books and flashcards and he can't wait to see what all they hold for him to learn!
