30 Meals in One Day Review, Giveaway, and Discount Code

One of the big items on my to-do list before the new baby gets here is to get my freezer stocked up with some meals that I can pull out on busy days.  I did that when I was pregnant with my previous child, and it was nice not to have to cook for a while after she was born.  A friend and I got together and cooked all the meals, but there were a few things about our cooking day with which I wasn't totally happy.

Since neither of us had ever done any freezer cooking before, we decided to use a popular site that plans out a freezer cooking day each month with all the recipes, shopping lists, and instructions.  It seemed like a great idea.   Until we started eating the meals.  Some of them were great!  But others?  I hate to admit that I threw quite a few meals into the trash because they were that gross.  I vowed I would never do any freezer cooking again that was based off of someone else planning my recipes for me.

30 Meals in One Day is a cookbook and software program that helps you plan your own freezer cooking day where you decide which recipes you want to use.  There are a number of recipe ideas from which you can choose.  They are included in both the cookbook and the software program.  If you want to include your own recipes from your own sources, you can add them to the software program.  All recipes are categorized by how they are made: Assembly, Oven, Stove, Crockpot.  That way you can be plan to use all of your appliances at one time and have as many meals as possible in the making simultaneously.

Besides recipes, the Dinner is Ready cookbook contains helpful instructions for planning a freezer cooking day.  I actually ended up using the instructions to do a little bit of cooking each day for a week instead of having one long day of cooking.

The software program is so handy.  All of the recipes in the cookbook are included in the program, and as I mentioned earlier you can add your own recipes as well.  When you're ready to plan your cooking day, you choose the recipes you want to use as well as how many batches of each you're going to make. The program automatically creates a shopping list for you with all of the ingredients and the correct amounts of each.  You can also print labels and an inventory.

There are 2 additional cookbooks available on their website that look like they will be really helpful too: On the Side and Lunch is Ready.  These books contain recipes for side dishes and lunches that you can prepare ahead of time and freeze.
