I Got 50 Bucks Last Night!

Search & Win

Are you using Swagbucks? I hope so, because that's FREE money you're missing out on if you're not! I just won 50 Swagbucks last night, and I figured I should give all of you who haven't signed up some motivation! Here's how it works if you're not familiar with it:

As you search the web, you randomly win Swagbucks. I usually win some Swagbucks every single time I do a search.

Swagbucks can be redeemed for prizes or gift cards. To be quite honest, I do not really care for most of the prizes except for the gift cards. I especially love using my Swagbucks for Amazon gift cards. It only takes 450 Swagbucks to redeem for a $5 Amazon gift card. I can easily get up to 450 Swagbucks in about a month just by regular searching. Plus, there are other ways to earn Swagbucks as well, like watching for FREE codes on the toolbar or on Twitter, shopping online, and completing special offers. If you refer others to Swagbucks, you win a Swagbuck every single time your referrals win one (up to 1000 Swagbucks)!

I love using Swagbucks to get Amazon gift cards that I can then use to buy Christmas gifts or just things that I need.

Click here to sign up and give it a try!

Harris Teeter Triples April 28 - May 4

Woo-hoo! Rumor has it that Harris Teeter will be tripling coupons April 28 through May 4. Coupons with a face value of up to $.99 will be tripled, with a limit of 20 per household per day.

I have posted the match-ups in a Google Document which will allow you to sort the list according to your own preference - by price, insert date, or aisle of the store.

-The Master List is what will come up when you initially click on the link to the document. This is what you want to look at if you keep checking back to see if I've added anything new. Anything new that has been added to the list will be at the bottom of the Master List spreadsheet. ( I may or may not have time to add them to the other lists.)

-At the bottom of the spreadsheet you will see options to sort by price, by coupon source, or by aisle.

  • If you're the type that likes to shop according to what will be the cheapest, you'll want to sort by price. The list is sorted by the least expensive to the most expensive.

  • If you like to file your coupon inserts whole and only cut out the coupons when you need them, you'll want to sort by insert. The coupons are listed in order by insert date with printable coupons and other sources included as well.

  • If you want to print out a list for the store, you can sort by aisle to make your trip through the store go a little faster.

-Any price with an asterisk beside it is presently on sale, but may or may not be on sale next week. I can't predict the future, so please don't get mad at me if it's not on sale during triples week!

Click here to view the document.

I will be adding more deals as the week goes on, but please feel free to leave a comment if you find any deals not listed.

Make Your Own Laundry and Dishwasher Detergent (Plus a Coupon!)

A couple days ago, I happened upon this video tutorial for homemade laundry detergent from Mummy Deals. I thought, "I really should try that, but I'm sure there aren't coupons for any of that stuff." The same day, one of my Facebook friends posted a link to a homemade dishwasher detergent tutorial. Homemade dishwasher detergent uses most of the same ingredients as homemade laundry detergent, one of which is 20 Mule Team Borax. I thought, "I really should try both of these ideas, but it would really be nice to have a coupon for the stuff to make it." This morning Amy posted a printable coupon for 20 Mule Team Borax! How can I not try this now! (By the way, she also posted links to her own tutorials for both laundry detergent and dishwasher detergent.) Let me know if any of you try making your own detergent and how it turns out!

$20 off $20 at The Company Store

Update: Wow that was fast! They have already disabled the use of the coupon code!

Shop The Company Store

Right now you can get $20 off a purchase of $20 or more at The Company Store! Use this on items in the clearance section to get something for free! The purchase price must be before shipping, and there are a few items that don't seem to work with the $20 off code, but this is still an awesome deal!

If you shop through Cashbaq and you're a new member, you'll get a $5 sign-up bonus in your Cashbaq account, plus 5% of your purchase price! (If you're already a Cashbaq member, you'll get 1% back.

How to do this deal:

  1. Sign up for a Cashbaq account or log in to your existing account.
  2. Type "Company Store" in the search bar.
  3. Click on "The Company Store".
  4. Click on the sentence that says "Earn 1% or 5% cash back plus use the coupons below to save more!" It looks confusing because there are no coupons listed, but if you click on that sentence you'll be taken to The Company Store website.
  5. Shop for something right around $20 and checkout.
  6. When you checkout, use the coupon code SLUMBER to get $20 off.
  7. You will receive either your 1% (existing Cashbaq members) or 5% and $5 sign up bonus (new Cashbaq members) in your Cashbaq account as soon as your purchase clears.

Don't Be Confused; It's Easy!

In the 2 most recent giveaways I have posted, I've used the comment form rather than the other form all of my regular readers are used to. Using the comment form takes less time for me and gives me more time to get the deals posted for you. However, I'm noticing that a lot of people who normally enter the giveaways haven't entered since I started using the comment I don't want any of my "regulars" to miss out on the giveaway just because you're not sure how to leave your comment.

Click on the comments under the giveaway post.

Scroll down to the Post a Comment section.
Click the dropdown box that says "Comment as:"

If you don't have a blog, you can use either the Name/URL or Anonymous option.
If you choose the Name/URL option, a little box will pop up that looks like this:
You DO NOT have to enter a URL. Just enter your name and click continue.
You can then enter your comment and your name will show up at the bottom.

If you're still nervous you can click Preview and you'll see this:
If it looks right, click "Post Comment" and you'll be entered in the giveaway! If you complete any of the extra entries, just repeat the steps above to leave a separate comment for each extra entry that you complete.

I hope that little tutorial helps anyone who may have been confused! Now go enter the giveaways!

Seventh Generation Review and Prize Pack Giveaway

I love to have a clean house, but I hate using chemicals to do it. Many cleaning products contain chemicals that I don't like breathing myself, and I certainly don't want my two little ones breathing them! I was delighted to try out Seventh Generation's new line of disinfectants that kill germs naturally! The herb thyme is the powerful ingredient contained in these products. The product line includes multi-surface cleaning spray, bathroom cleaning spray, and disenfecting wipes. They can be used on hard surfaces such as counter tops, cutting boards, high chair trays, and children's toys.
I have been using the new Seventh Generation cleaners for everything, and I have been more than happy with how easy they are to use. They work great for even the dirtiest of jobs, and I have the assurance that I am not polluting the air in my house with chemicals I don't want my family breathing.

Win a Prize Pack:

One reader will win a Seventh Generation "Disinfecting Cleaning Kit" that includes:
  • a disinfecting multi-surface cleaner
  • bathroom cleaner
  • wipes
  • a copy of The Conscious Kitchen
  • a cleaning caddy made from recycled plastic
  • two rolls of 100% recycled, unbleached paper towels
To Enter:

Leave a comment answering the following question: According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, how many hazardous chemical products are in the average American home? (Your answer does not have to be correct to be entered in the giveaway, but give it your best shot!)

Please leave your email address as well so that I will be able to contact you if you win.

Extra entries: (leave a separate comment for each)

  • Subscribe to The Deal Scoop, either by email or via RSS.
  • Follow this blog via Google Friend Connect on the right sidebar.
  • Become a fan of The Deal Scoop on Facebook.
  • Follow The Deal Scoop on Twitter.
  • Post The Deal Scoop's button on your blog.
  • Tweet, blog about, or post this giveaway on Facebook. (You can do this as often as once per day throughout the entire giveaway period for a separate entry each day.)
A winner will be chosen on April 30.

Disclosure: Seventh Generation (via MyBlogSpark) provided one prize pack as pictured above for me to review and one to give away to my readers. All opinions expressed are my own.

Do they know how many hazardous chemical products are in the average American home (63- according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission)

Wilton Review and Giveaway

Whenever I think of Wilton, I think of beautiful bridal cakes or incredibly decorated birthday cakes with creative themes. While those are fun to look at, they are something I absolutely cannot do myself. I do not have an artistic bone in my body, and I stay as far away as possible when it comes to decorating cakes! Seriously, people, I can't even put frosting on a cupcake without it looking like my 2 year old did it.

When I was asked which Wilton products I would like to review, I responded with a challenge to prove to me that Wilton products are not only for the artistically inclined. I was sent the 53 Piece Cake Decorating Set and some Pre-made Red Icing Roses to try out.

When I received the items, I was sure that the Pre-made Icing Roses would be easy enough for me to use, but I was still not sure about using the Cake Decorating Set to actually do any decorating. But when I browsed through the idea book that came with the set, I found something I was pretty sure I could do. (It's perfect for my blog's theme too!)

Excuse the PJ's and the bedhead, but I had promised Little Bear that we would make cupcakes first thing in the morning - and he didn't forget! He ran straight for the kitchen as soon as he got up! Basically you bake the cupcakes inside the ice cream cone, then frost them according to the instructions given in the idea booklet. I don't think I did too badly, considering how hard a time I usually have with things like this and the fact that I had "help" from a 2 year old! After we finished with the "ice cream cones", we proceeded to frost the rest of the cupcakes using the decorating tips that came with the set. I was very surprised at how much easier it was to make a decent looking cupcake using the decorating tips than just trying to do it with a knife. Even a 2 year old can make a pretty good looking cupcake: I realized that while I may still not be able to make elegant bridal cakes or create intricate designs on a birthday cake, I can at least make something that's not completely embarrassing to let people see! I would not be able to do that if I didn't have the right tools! Thanks, Wilton, for proving that even I can put your products to good use!

Buy it:

You can browse the extensive line of Wilton products at their online store here.

Win it:
